You see I've had my fair share of headaches when it comes to doing my best to get the most traffic to my website(s) for free. There are much more directories out there to submit to, however these are a few of the main ones that will help you get on the first page of google fast.

The reason why article marketing is so effective is it helps you get more quality one way pointing back to your relevant website. Google will rank your website according to the number of quality links pointing back to your site, so the more you have the better. With that said, the more article you have posted online, the better.
